Dorothy "Dot" Russ, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 1, 2026.

Born on December 20, 1946, Dot was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose life was defined by her deep love for family, memorable holiday meals, and dying Easter eggs with her grandbabies. She was married to her beloved husband, Bobby Lee Russ, for 59 years before his passing. Together, they built a life centered on commitment, resilience, and enduring love.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Everette and Vernie Mae Goins, as well as her husband, Bobby Lee Russ.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her sons, Tim Russ and wife, Elizabeth and Brian Russ; her grandchildren, Philip Russ and wife, Hannah and Kristin Davis and husband, Blake; her great-grandchildren, Raegan Russ and Hollie Russ; her siblings, Frances Jones, Jean Dellinger, Jewel Adams, Jeanette Henley and Wayne Goins.

Dot was a member of Mulls Memorial Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina. She dedicated many years of service working at Universal/Polygram Industries before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling and playing games with her family.

She will be remembered for her fun-loving competitive nature, her love and support to her family, and the laughter she brought into every room. Her legacy lives on through the generations she loved so deeply.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 3:00pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bulo Price officiating.

Burial will follow at Double Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.
