Douglas Farrell Laughlin, 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 06, 2023 while at White Oak Manor, Shelby.

He was born to the late J.T. Laughlin and Luesenior Champion Laughlin in Cleveland County. He is also predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Betty Canipe Laughlin; son, Mike Chapman; brother, Ronnie Laughlin.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Scott Chapman; former daughter-in-law, Debbie Chapman; grandchildren, Braydan Chapman (Samantha), Suzanne Merck (David), Doug Chapman (Cassie) and Michael Chapman; great-grandchildren, Holden, Taylor, Cheyanne, Burgan, Abbie, Gage, Mickeeley, Madison and Meredith; brothers, Terry Laughlin (Pam) and Freddie Laughlin; sisters, Martha Fortenberry, Brenda Garver, Teresa Hovis and Trina Whitaker (Gary).

He worked at Cleveland Mills for 42 years and Laughlin Furniture for 18 years. He was an avid New York Yankee's and North Carolina Tar Heels Fan. He served 20 years as a Lawndale Town Councilman.

The Family would like to specially thank John Laughlin, Danny "Bubba" Swink and Brent Gardo for going above and beyond for their help during his time of need.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Hudson Memorial Baptist Church, 762 Warlick Road, Lawndale, NC 28090.
