Edna Parker Mull Brendle

Edna Parker Mull Brendle, 95 of Morganton and formerly of Cherryville passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Grace Ridge in Morganton.

Born on November 30, 1929 in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Reid Parker, Sr. and Cordie Wright Parker. She was retired from Christian Tours and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville.

Edna was known for her outgoing, friendly nature and ever present smile. She was dedicated to her church and family and her loved ones feel fortunate for the great role model that she was. Edna adored her entire Parker family as well -- all ten brothers and sisters were tight knit and always there for each other.

Edna's passions included raising her family, participating or leading church activities and working in the yard tending to her vegetable gardens as well as her flower gardens. She was an excellent cook and many continue to express appreciation for the love she showed through her home cooked meals. Edna was quick to share a flower or offer a word of comfort to those she knew and loved, as well as strangers. Her kindness made the world a better place day by day.

One of the jobs Edna enjoyed most was the role of tour director for Christian Tours. It was a great outlet for her to make new friends and be able to tell all the funny jokes she accumulated over her lifetime. She thoroughly enjoyed the travel experiences and often laughed that she got paid to visit wonderful locations all over the world.

Edna was blessed with boundless energy and loved to stay busy. She could almost always be found in gardening clothes, excited about working in the garden or yard, winning "Yard of the Month" several times. Her love of gardening continued when she moved to Grace Ridge in 2022 with a raised bed garden. She had a garden every year and planted one again this year at Grace Ridge. Tomatoes and cucumbers were her favorites. She shared her gardening and yard passions with her loved ones, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.

When she was in her late 80's and early 90's she liked to joke that she was going to visit the "elderly", which she actually did, but most of the time, they were younger than she was!

Edna Parker Mull Brendle was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, enthusiastic traveler, gardener and great friend, and will be missed tremendously but remembered fondly with great love.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Edsel Lee Mull and John Joseph Brendle; five brothers, Jesse Hoyt Parker, Ernest Reid Parker, Jr., Clinton Enoch Parker, John Lewis Parker and Dr. Blaine Frank Parker, Sr. and two sisters, Lois Parker Graham and Evelyn Parker Leatherman.

Survivors include her son, Vann Mull and wife, Wendy of Monroe; daughter, Judy Mull Wright of Morganton; granddaughter, Dara Wright Curtis and husband Allen of Morganton and two great-grandchildren, Anna Curtis and Alyson Curtis; two brothers, Ray Parker and wife, Mary Lou of Lincolnton and Stowe Parker of Burlington and numerous nieces and nephews.
