Falling for Shelby - Helene Fundraiser and Fill the Trailer

Introducing a brand-new event to Uptown Shelby - Falling for Shelby festival. Three Uptown Shelby Business Owners created the event to showcase the restaurants and retail businesses on S. Lafayette St. in Uptown Shelby.
The business owners of Angie Brooke Boutique, Sutton and Brooks Boutique, and Minnie Jean Design Co. have partnered with Dragonfly Marketing and Events to create Falling for Shelby. These three business owners are committed to bringing the event to fruition by investing their time and financial resources. The team prioritizes bringing in vendors that do not compete with the businesses on S. Lafayette St. All vendors will be vetted before acceptance.
The event will be a vibrant celebration, offering a rich tapestry of activities. From the fashion showcases of these three boutiques to the performances of dance groups from across the county and the music of regional favorites, there's something for everyone.
The festival will open at 2:00 p.m. and cover S. Lafayette St. from Graham to Warren with vendors, fashion shows, children's activities, dance group presentations, and regional bands. The first band will take the stage at 5:00 p.m., and two additional bands will follow, closing the night at 10:00 p.m.
The Moffitt Family Foundation and Falling for Shelby businesses are partnering to continue supporting the small Western North Carolina communities. The Falling for Shelby Festival will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, in Uptown Shelby on Lafayette Street. The following businesses have half-and-half tickets to sell: Angie Brooke Boutique, Carolina Chiropractic Plus, Dragonfly Marketing and Events, Minnie Jean Design Co., and Sutton Brooks Boutique. The 50 percent not given to the winner will go to Helene Hurricane Relief. Tickets will be ten dollars each or 3 for $25.
Dirty Grass Soul will draw the winner during their performance at the festival.
Visit the Moffitt Family Foundation's website for more information. Visit the Falling for Shelby Festival's Facebook page for more information.
The Cleveland County Volunteer Fire Department will host a fill-the-trailer event for supplies needed in the Western North Carolina area. A list of needed supplies will be posted on the festival and CCVFD Facebook pages.
Mason Cole, a local favorite who opens the stage, is building audiences across the Southeast. Born and raised in Shelby, NC, Mason Cole writes about true events and situations that occur in everyday life. A mix of Americana and country music, Mason's ingenuity in songwriting continuously shocks the audience, especially being only 18. Be sure to check out Mason anywhere you listen to music online and visit his website: https://www.masoncolemusic.com/
Tyler Hatley and the Coyotes band take the stage around 6:00 pm. It is a five-piece band originating in North Carolina that has been all over the Country performing in Honky Tonks as well as Arenas with some of the most significant acts in country music, including Luke Combs, Joe Diffie, Josh Thompson, Shane Smith, and the Saints, Sunday Best and many more. With influences from 90's country, Red Dirt Texas Country, and Appalachian folk, you will experience a great blend of original music and some of their favorite artists' cover songs. Tyler Hatley (vocals and acoustic guitar), along with Justin Clyde Williams (vocals and electric guitar) and Matt Parks (vocals and fiddle), have taken their trio to the next level by adding bass (Clinton Andrews) and drums (Alex Sims) to create the full band The Coyotes.
The headliner for the event is a local and regional favorite, Dirty Grass Soul.
Proudly hailing from the musically rich foothills of Cleveland County (Shelby, NC), Dirty Grass Soul has been entertaining audiences across the Carolinas and beyond since their formation in 2011. With a sound that draws much influence from the traditional music of the North Carolina foothills, Dirty Grass Soul manages to bring a new, refreshed, and re-energized sound to their music that falls somewhere between country, bluegrass, and southern rock & roll reminiscent of acts like The Charlie Daniels Band and The Marshall Tucker Band. Rather than simply relying on heavy guitar leads, Dirty Grass Soul offers instrumentation that mixes in a heavy dose of fiddle, pedal steel guitar, and banjo in addition to the guitar. DGS is led by founding members Kevin Dedmon (Fiddle, Vocals, Guitar) and Lance Watson (Bass, Mandolin). They are joined by Tommy Smith (Electric Guitar), Dedmon's brother Kris Dedmon (Banjo), Glenn Miller (Pedal Steel Guitar), and Jared Miller (Vocals & Percussion).
After touring the Carolinas behind their self-produced albums "New Day of Work" and "The Long Way," as well as shows with the likes of many of the nation's premier bands under their belt, Dirty Grass Soul has earned a reputation as one of The Carolina's emerging Southern RockAlt-Country bands.
