Frances Hastings Phifer

Frances Hastings Phifer, age 92 died Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Brookdale Senior Living in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County on September 3, 1926, she was the daughter of Clint and Mary Blanche Poteat Hastings. Frances was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She retired from Fasco after a number of years of service. Frances enjoyed working at Victoria-Stephen Speciality Gifts and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her husband, John R. Phifer Jr.; two sons, Tony Lamar Hastings and John Michael Phifer; three brothers and two sisters.

Frances is survived by two daughters, Vickie Knapp and husband Steve of Shelby and Debbie Morgan and husband Steve of Blairsville Ga; a sister, Mary Sue York of Blanco TX; five grandchildren, Melanie Barrett and husband Wes, Kelly Auton and husband Troy, Adam Morgan and wife Erin, Alex Morgan and wife Mandee, Angela Hawkins and husband Josh; and five great grandchildren, Brandon, Morgan, Taylor, Joshua, and Isla; and special friend and caregiver, Thomas Tolbert.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 1:00 until 1:50 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
