Franklin Dyer

Franklin Dyer, age 76, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Frank was born June 23, 1947 in Cleveland County to the late Lawrence "Doc" Dyer and Annie Dyer Roberson. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Frank worked as a supervisor for American Greetings and later owned and operated Franks Roofing and Remodeling. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He also enjoyed having meaningful conversation with his friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Keith Dyer; brothers, Lawrence and John Dyer.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-two years, Nancy Whitmire Dyer; his children, Glenn Dyer of Forest City; Cindy Vickers of Mooresboro and her daughter, Danielle Griffin; Jody Dyer of Ellenboro and his daughter, Kylee Dyer, Carmalita Fortenberry of Black Mountain and her children, Caitlyn and Liberty Fortenberry. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard, Dean and Jim Dyer and his best friend and brother-in-law, George Whitmire; and a special aunt, "Aunt Dot."

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 28th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jerry Causby and Reverend George Whitmire officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard will follow at Floyd's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
