Garland Lee Grigg, 91, of Shelby, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 17, 2025, at VIA Health Partners, formerly Wendover Hospice of Cleveland County.

Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Burgan Lee Grigg and Elizabeth Woods Grigg. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers; Boyd Grigg, Hugh Grigg, Billy Grigg, and sister Evelyn Newton.

He will be remembered for his unconditional love of family and excitement when his great-grandchildren came by to visit with him. After retirement, he had a passion for farming and cutting grass and working in the yard. His favorite past times were telling jokes and sitting on the front porch waving to all who passed by. Garland was known for sitting on the back pew at church and handing out peppermints.

Garland is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Nancy Jenkins Grigg; daughter, Lynda Webber (Scott); son David Grigg, and daughter Gina Grigg; grandchildren, Ashley Hedden (Steven), Tyler Grigg (Brittany), Cary Morrow (Tripp), Zach Rabb (Cassidy); great-grandchildren, Rhett, Evie, Elena, Hayden, and Maddox. Two brothers, Carmie (Dorothy) Grigg of Shelby and Haywood (Ella) Grigg of Cherryville. Good friends; Debbie and Maynard Bradley and Kathy and Mike Grigg.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Union Baptist Church in Shelby. the family will recieve friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary.
