Gay McSwain Anthony, 75, died Monday, December 19, 2022 at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Hillard and Genelia Wright McSwain. Gay was a devoted worker and member of Pleasant City Church, where enjoyed teaching Sunday school. She retired from Monumental Insurance Company after 25 years of service, and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to provide comfort and compassion to her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carroll McSwain. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Keith Anthony of the home; son, Greg Anthony and wife Sherry of Kings Mountain; daughters, Jena Grigg of Kings Mountain and Katie Holbrooks and husband Kevin of Cherryville; brothers, Harold McSwain and wife Judy of Shelby and Mike McSwain and wife Carol of Fallston; grandchildren, Trey Grigg and wife Erin, Austin Anthony and wife Ashlea Hodge Anthony, Tyler Grigg, Ashlee Anthony and Tucker Holbrooks; great-grandson, Waylon Grigg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Friday, December 23, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Glisson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pleasant City Church.
