George Eddie Childers, 71, of Lawndale, "the man the myth the legend" passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Born on February 16, 1955, in Augusta, Georgia, Eddie was a son of the late George Washington Childers and Helen Rose Childers Jones.

Eddie spent many years working in roofing and carpentry before his retirement. He was a hardworking man who knew how to do a little bit of everything and could often be found working on one project or another. He liked to say that he was a "jack of all trades and a master of none," a saying that fit his ability to turn his hand to just about anything. Eddie enjoyed the simple things in life. When his health allowed, he loved hunting and fishing, browsing flea markets, and simply piddling around and finding something to keep himself busy.

Above all, Eddie treasured his family and the time he was able to spend with those he loved.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Owens Childers; brother, James "Rip" Childers; and sister, Vina Medley.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Bo Childers and wife Kaela of Lawndale; daughter, Wendy Dawson and husband Dwayne of Lawndale; six grandchildren, Skyler Tessneer and husband Luke, Avery Childers, Tripp Childers, Eli Dawson, Natalie Childers, and Lily Childers; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Cooper; beloved "brother", David Ronnie Owens; brother, Zach Childers; and two sisters, Annette Parris and Glendy Bolin.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.
