Gina M. Young

Gina M. Young, 58, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, after a courageous five-year battle with multiple myeloma cancer.

Born on July 18, 1966, in Burlington, VT, Gina was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend whose love, strength, and determination inspired everyone who knew her. She was a true warrior who faced her illness with grace and unwavering resilience.

Gina is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Young, who will cherish and remember every moment they shared and miss her deeply. She also leaves behind her treasured dog, Bella, and her children: Paul T. Bessery, Ryan M. Bessery and his wife Suzanne, Josh T. Bessery, and her loving daughter-in-law Erin B. Young. Gina was the proud grandmother of Violet Bessery (9), Everett Bessery (6), and Kalee Tiner (9), who brought immense joy to her life.

She is also survived by her mother, Louise Pratt; her sisters, Patty Morel and Camille Morel; her brother and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Peter Morel.

Gina graduated from Wichita Falls State College with a degree in accounting and had a fulfilling career in her field. Beyond her professional achievements, she loved the simple pleasures of life. A passionate reader, Gina found her happiest moments outdoors. Whether fishing on the water, shelling at the beach, or simply soaking up the sun, she cherished every moment spent in nature. Her favorite saying when fishing was,
"Just one more cast," embodying her love for the water and the joy it brought her.

Above all, Gina's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She embraced every opportunity to spend time with them and make lasting memories. Her love for them was boundless and unconditional.

Gina's strength, perseverance, and love for life will forever be an inspiration to her family and friends.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of courage and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A private service will be held to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time outdoors, take a moment to cast your line, and think of Gina with a smile.
