Grady Lee Fite Whitener, 54, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 22, 2023 while at his home.

He was born to the late Thomas Fite and Nancy Whitener Fite in Cleveland County. He is also predeceased by his grandfather, Grady B. Whitener; grandson, Chance Pruett.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy Whitener of the home; step-daughter, Cynthia Owens and husband Will Owens; step-son, Brian Pruett; grandsons, Dylan Witherspoon, David Witherspoon, Brian Pruett, Brandon Pruett, Haiden Callahan, Landon Ochler and Zack Owens; granddaughters, Brilea Pruett "Turkey Girl", Alex and Hope Owens; brother, Glenn Fite.

He worked as a Machinist for most of his career. He enjoyed playing golf. He loved his dogs and cat. He was a wonderful husband, brother, step-father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Springmore Baptist Church, 651 McBrayer Homestead Road, Shelby, NC 28152 with Pastor Tim Norman officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be immediately following the service at Fellowship Independent Baptist Church, 150 Christopher Road, Shelby, NC 28152.
