Harold Dean Smith

Harold Dean Smith, age 85, of Ellenboro, died Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.

Harold was born August 3, 1939, in Rutherford County to the late Edgar and Betty Kirkendall Smith. He was preceded in death, only two months earlier, by his loving wife and soul mate of 52 years, Nancy Morgan Smith.

Harold was also preceded in death by his stepson, Ronnie Page; his son, Reggie Smith; his grandson, Adam Parker and his siblings; Addie Waters, Clyde Smith, Evelyn Beason, Nell Norman, Floyd Smith, and Charles "Dude" Smith.

Harold was a member of High Shoal Baptist Church in Mooresboro. He loved his Lord and his church family. He worked in textiles for many years at Burlington Mills in Caroleen, Fieldcrest in Alexander Mills and Cone Mills in Cliffside. He enjoyed his work, but his greatest passion was traveling and camping with Nancy and all of their camping friends. Harold was known as "Pop" to his family whom he loved dearly. He never met a stranger and loved everyone he met.

Left to cherish his precious memory are his stepson, Randy Page (Wanda), and grandsons Zac Page (Estefania), Chad Cuthbertson, and great grandson, Jordan Cuthbertson, all of Forest City. Also left to celebrate his memory are his children from a previous marriage; Teresa Smith and Deborah Crowe (Daniel) of Union Mills, Sherry Smith (Roger) of Ellenboro, Ronnie Smith (Tammy) of Morganton, Barbie Rich of Shelby; daughter-in-law, Kim Smith of Rutherfordton, and 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at High Shoal Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service. Memorial donations are requested to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.
