Harvey Hopper of Shelby, NC passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Belaire Health Care in Gastonia, NC.

He was born on January 7, 1949 to the late Claywood and Edna Jane Charles Hopper.

Harvey graduated from Cleveland High School in 1967. He was employed with the Clyde A. Short Company for 33.5 years. He loved sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and UNC Tarheels fan.

Harvey was married to the love of his life Vivian Hopper for 33 years. Forever holding him in their hearts are his children Zach Hopper of Shelby, NC, Shana Surratt of Kingstown, NC, Darnell Surratt of Benson, NC, and Greg (Sherry) Ager of Shelby, NC; one sister, Deborah Jackson; one twin brother Harold (Christie) Hopper both of Shelby, and 7 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his brothers Lavanda Hopper and Dwight Hopper.

Left to cherish fond memories along with his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Sunset Cemetery. A reception of friends will be held from 11:00 AM until 11:30 AM and also on Friday, May 3rd from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel.

In celebration of Harvey, in lieu of flowers the family request any funds go to doing a kind deed for someone, such as buying them lunch. Harvey loved chicken and hamburgers!
