Hazel White Dear, 96, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Wendover Hospice House of Shelby on January 21, 2024.

Hazel was born November 30, 1927 to Dock Amos White and Stenny Spake White. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Murry Dear, and three brothers Dan White, Winfred White, and Carl White.

She is survived by her sister Eunice White Poston of Shelby. She leaves behind three sons to cherish her memory; David Dear (JoAn) of Shelby, Don Dear (Jane) of Greenville, SC, and Ronnie Dear of Shelby. She is also survived by four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Hazel was a lifetime member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and enjoyed living independently, spending time with family, working outdoors with her plants, and caring for her animals until she passed.

The family will hold a private graveside service at Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery.
