Horace Lee McCluney

Mr. Horace Lee McCluney, 76 of Shelby, NC passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at White Oak Manor of Shelby. Horace was born on September 22, 1948, in Cherokee County, SC, to the late Raymond (Cluff) McCluney, Sr. and Nina Eloise Oglesby McCluney.
Horace graduated from Camp High School in 1966. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 and served two years. He later attended Southern Business College. After college he began working in textiles and later as a manufacturing machinist until his retirement. After retirement, he began a home repair services business and served many families around Cleveland County.
Horace joined Shoal Creek Baptist Church at an early age. He served there as a trustee and as a member of the All Male Choir until his health began to decline.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard (Ike) McCluney, Sr. and Jerry W. McCluney, Sr. and two sisters, Laura Mae Quinn and Mary Francis Byers.
Horace leaves to cherish fond memories to his children, Lisa Childers and Guan Childers of Atlanta, GA, Denise James, Chris Williams (Linda) and Darrell Williams Sr., all of Lawndale, NC; grandchildren, Daria Williams, Darrell Williams, Jr., Keisha Childers, Kia James, and Tyreek James; brothers, Raymond McCluney, Jr. and Larry McCluney (Caroline) of Shelby, NC, Roy Lewis McCluney (Kytrina) of Gastonia, NC; sisters, Katie Ross and Edna Willis of Shelby, NC, and Tina Huskey Moore of Kings Mountain, NC; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Enloe Mortuary was in charge of the services.
