James Edward Horton, age 82 of Mooresboro, NC, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Charles George VA Medical Center Hospice Unit.

He was born February 22, 1941 in Charlotte, NC to the late James Andrew Horton and the late Katherine Nash Horton. James was a US Air Force veteran and retired from Duke Power after thirty three and a half years. James loved to ride horses and in years past would spend a lot of time rebuilding old cars.

James is survived by his wife Glenda Horton, his grandsons; Patrick "Tee" Horton and Sean Stephen Horton, his step son Barry Brindle.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his son Brian Scott Horton, his brother Kenneth Horton, his step son Erik Stephen Horton.

The family would like to thank Robert Land who was a close friend of James for coming by at least once a week to check on him while he was still at home and when he was at the VA hospice in Asheville. Robert's kindness will forever be appreciated by the family. At the request of James there will be no services held and the family asks that in his memory that you be more kind to those that you come in contact with because the world needs more kindness.
