James "Jim" Henry Hollingsworth

James "Jim" Henry Hollingsworth, 64 of Boiling Springs, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at his residence.

Born in Ft. Hood, Texas, on May 25, 1960, he was the son of the late Henry George Hollingsworth and Joan Margarite Finch Hollingsworth. Jim was retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. His law enforcement career included: officer, Homicide, Guns and Gangs Federal Task Force, Intelligence Division, and finished his career as a Sergeant over the Charlotte downtown district. After retirement he worked for the newly formed cold case squad under Cleveland County Sheriff Alan Norman, then was over physical security for Facebook for all data centers in the United States and Oslo, he then took a short retirement before he started working at the Foothills Public Shooting Complex of Cleveland County when it opened. After another retirement he began volunteering at Elizabeth Baptist Church. He loved to serve and protect. He loved people. Jim was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and served in the Air National Guard of North Carolina.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Betty Willis Hollingsworth; daughter, Alison Hollingsworth of Little River, SC; son, James Tyler Hollingsworth of Boiling Springs; three granddaughters, Lydia, Marilyn and Lacey Tucker all of Madison; sister, Janis Hollingsworth Owl of Murphy and brother, Jonathan Hollingsworth of Augusta, GA.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Elizabeth Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Dr. Rit Varriale officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 323 W Grover St, Shelby, NC 28150.
