Jerry Weldon McGinnis

Beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle. Architect, landscape artist, painter, woodworker, general handyman, loafer, rambler, Wolfpacker and PROCRASTINATOR (just waiting for the big idea).

Jerry Weldon McGinnis, 81, passed away on Thursday, October 24th at Wendover Hospice House. He was the son of the late Ernest and Rena McGinnis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Jean Thrift and Patsy Eskew.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Yazmin McGinnis and their daughters Daria and Elena, daughter Larissa Coles and husband Jonathan, and son Erek McGinnis and wife Emily, four grandchildren Taylor and Samantha Coles and Hunter and Mason McGinnis. He is also survived by his sisters Deborah Rogers (husband Chris) and Amelia McGinnis, along with many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of NC State University in architecture (1972) and a US Air Force veteran, Jerry was an architect for numerous projects in the Southeast and a leader in Boy Scouts of America.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on October 30, 2024 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Yazmin McGinnis for the children's college scholarship fund. Memorials should be sent to Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and McGinnis Family.
