Jimmy "Jim" Walter Gettys, 73, of Jack Moore Mountain Road Ext, Shelby, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, on May 12, 1951, he was the son of the late Marion Yates Gettys and Mattie Elizabeth Gettys. He was a lifelong farmer raising cattle and agricultural crops. He was also a member of Duncans Creek Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, William Bralee Sanders and Walter Brilee Sanders and a nephew, Chris Queen.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years Nancy Daves Gettys; a son, James Gettys of Shelby; two daughters, Lisa Gold and husband, Jimmy of Earl and Amy Gettys of Shelby; a sister, Meredith Queen of Shelby; eight grandchildren, Matt Gold and wife Angie, Jordon Gold, Jesse Gettys, Dakota Roberson, Blake Childers, Gracie Gettys, Jaxzon Sanders, and Camden Gettys; and three great grandchildren, Mason, CJ and Henry.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 4:00 pm at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Scott officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
