Joe Billy Holland, Sr., 86, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Joe Bill was born on December 28, 1937 in Gaston County, NC a son of the late William Holland and Mamie Mitchem Holland. He was a retired dock worker from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation in Cherryville. Joe Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cherryville. He served in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Faye Holland.

Survivors include a son, Joe Billy Holland, Jr. and wife, Lori of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Cindy Burgin and husband, Tim of Cherryville; Mellisa Mauney of Kings Mountain; five grandchildren, Lindsey Jo Watts (Jonathan), Katie Holland, Linze Thompson, Austin Mauney and Sydney Burgin; three great-grandchildren, Eliza Thompson, Aurora Mauney and Hudson Watts.

The family will receive friends from 12:30PM to 1:45PM on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home at other times the family will be at the home of a daughter, Cindy Burgin, 5664 Hwy. 182, Cherryville, NC 28021.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home..

Burial will follow in the City Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Honor Guard.
