Joe Louis Haynes

Joe Louis Haynes departed this life on January 12, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

Joe was born on October1, 1941, in Lawndale, NC to the late Gussie Bell Haynes and M.B. Bell.
Joe graduated from Cleveland East High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1962. He furthered his education at Cleveland County Technical Institute in Shelby, NC, where he earned a degree as a Nursing Orderly in 1970. In 1996, he advanced his career, becoming a Nurse Assistant II. He was a dedicated and hardworking professional. Joe was employed at Cleveland Memorial Hospital, where he retired in 2004. He also worked at Shelby Convalescent Center and Cleveland Pines. His exceptional work ethic earned him multiple perfect attendance recognitions throughout his career.
Joe was a devout member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, where he served faithfully on the Usher Board, Health and Wellness Team, and the Security Ministry Team. He deeply loved his church and its members, embodying a spirit of service and generosity. Joe extended his compassion beyond the church, volunteering at various community kitchens and giving back to those in need.
Joe enjoyed taking walks and took pride in his active lifestyle. He will be remembered for his kind heart, dedication to his work, and unwavering commitment to his family and the community.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lurean Eberheart; his brother, Larry Eberheart; his step-daughter, Jaymie Glenn Thompson, and his stepson, Bryan McCain.
Cherished memories of Joe will live on in the hearts of his daughter, Delydia (Everett) Meadows; granddaughter, Erin Meadows; his brother, Leroy Eberheart; his stepson, Telea Glenn; uncle, AC Haynes; and his special nieces, Temesheia and Tonyetta Eberheart. He is also survived by numerous great nieces, great great nieces, and cousins. He will forever hold a place in their hearts.
Joe's life was a testament to kindness, service, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and community spirit that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Rest in peace Joe Louis Haynes. You will be deeply missed. Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the services.
