John Thomas Gold, 89, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at The Greens at Lincolnton Nursing Facility in Lincolnton, NC.

Born in Cleveland County on September 19, 1934 he was the son of the late Thomas Palmer Gold and Nannie Sue Shytle Gold. In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his wife Ann Herndon Gold as well as his step sons Allen Herndon and Gerald Herndon. Tom Retired from Carolina Freight after 30 years of service and will be remembered for his love for the Lord and the Carolina Tar Heels.

Tom is survived by his two sons, Jerry Gold and wife Sheri of Maiden, NC and Roger Gold and wife Kristin of Lincolnton, NC. Also left to cherish his memory is his sister Ann Shuford, step son John Herndon, two grandchildren, Eric Gold wife Kim and Hannah Gold, great grandchildren Noah Gold and Mia Gold, as well as his step grandchildren, Carroll Herndon and Johnathan Herndon.

To honor the life of Tom, the family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 5:30PM at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory.
