John William "Dub" Russell Emmett, 78, of Hulls Grove Church Road, Vale passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

William was born on April 21, 1947, in Maryville, TN to the late Forest Okley Emmett and Arlie Harris Emmett. He was retired from Howard Construction Company and Abernathy Welding. William was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and worked with the youth. In his spare time, he loved to piddle around the house and the church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Courtney Brittain and three siblings, Carols Emmett, Lynn Emmett and Patsy Autrey.

William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Garrison Emmett; son, Rodney Emmett of Vale; daughter, Angela Brittain and husband, Alan of Newton; two sisters, Carolyn Wilcox and Sue Williams.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1:30pm to 2:45pm at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremey Mahaffey and Rev. Seth Taylor officiating.

Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
