John William Walker, 64, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his residence. A native of Rutherford County, he was born on, May 30, 1959, son of the late Bill and Ruby Bright Walker. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, one sister, Debbie Cogdell, two brothers, Steve Walker and Ronnie Walker, and one granddaughter, Mira Nix Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Newton Walker, one son, Jonathan Walker (Rachel) of Shelby, one daughter, Nicole Hardin (Todd) of Landrum, SC, two sisters, Jan Cartee and Lisa Brown, three grandchildren, Abby Crawford, Will Crawford, and Summer Walker.

Mr. Walker was a member of Living Light Baptist Church for 15 years. He loved fishing, singing, and writing songs. He worked part-time at Patterson Springs Recycle Center for the county. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. John retired from Hanes Corp. in Kings Mountain. He will be missed by many.

The family will receive friends after the graveside service at Cleveland Memorial Park.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, in the Cleveland Funeral Service and Crematory Chapel officiated by Rev. Jeff Hayes. Burial will immediately follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.

To honor Mr. Walker, the following will serve as pallbearers: Jonathan Walker, Todd Hardin, Jacob Brown, Steven Walker, Danny Navey, Dillion Walker
