Joyce Allen Spangler, age 74, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at her daughter's home in Chapel Hill. Born in Warwick County Virginia on July 28, 1943, she was the daughter of Beatrice Allen of Shelby and the late George H. Allen.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Neal Spangler Jr., daughters, Sherry Spangler of Cramerton, Dana Brackett and husband Noah of Belmont, Leigh Ann Yeager and husband Jesse of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Spangler, Hannah Brackett, Rachel Brackett, Tyson Yeager and Brady Yeager; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Bridges and husband Jim of Chesnee, SC; two nephews, Tres Brooks and wife Regan, James Brooks and wife Robin; and numerous other aunts, uncles and close relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 1:00pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Robin Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00pm until 1:00 pm.
