Joyce Marie Stanley Morgan, age 89, died Monday, February 23, 2026, at Shelby Manor surrounded by her family.

Joyce was born in Chester, SC, on October 7, 1936, to the late Arvol and Marie Stanley. She was also predeceasedby her husband of 68 years, Richard Morgan, with whom she traveled to all fifty states and many other worldwide destinations. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Ronald Langston Stanley.

She attended Dover Elementary and Shelby City Schools as well as Cleveland Technical College, where she received an Associates Degree in Data Processing. Herearly career was in textiles working with the Dover Textile Group at both Dover and Ora Mills as well as Shelby Mill, then later continued her career as a financial secretary at J.L. Suttle Insurance Company in Shelby and First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, NC. Joyce was a long-time, active member of Dover Baptist Church in Shelby, where she spent decades as a dedicated choir member and Sunday School teacher. She currently was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she remained active until her health declined.

They had three children: Judith "Judy" Wright (Barry), Sherri Beam (Zeb III), and Richard "Rick" Morgan (Georgann). Additionally, there are five grandchildren:Ashley Wright, Lance Wright (Briana); Morgan Beam McCraw (Chris), Zeb Beam, IV; and Emily Hunnicutt Hoyle (Walter), as well as eight great-grandchildren, Calleigh and Caide Wright, Gunnar and Dalton McCraw, Annelise Beam, and Abby, Macey, and Lily Clary. Also surviving Joyce is a brother, Kenneth Arvol Stanley.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the chapel, officiated by the Reverend Dr. Bulo Ervin Price III. Burial will take place at Cleveland Memorial Park in Shelby, North Carolina.
