Judy Ann Melton Self, 72, passed away on Saturday, November 09, 2024 at Atrium Health - Cleveland in Shelby.

She was born on September 22, 1952 in Gaffney, South Carolina and was the daughter of Homer Lowery and Joann Lowery. She was a retired supervisor from Kendrion. Judy had a caring spirit and enjoyed caring for others, and she looked forward to her lunches with her retirement group. She also spent many hours listening to audio books and watching her stories.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Jones; grandson, Michael Self; and two brothers, Glen Melton and Jimmy Melton.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years Gary Franklin Self; a daughter Kristy Rykard and husband Bobby of Lexington, SC; two brothers Stan Lowery and Tim Lowery both of Shelby; five grandchildren, Heather Davidson and husband Heath, James Self, Jessica Covarrubias and husband Poppy; Tabatha Self and Chloe Whaley; and ten great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday at 6:00 PM in the Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barry Philbeck officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
