Junior Cooper

Junior Cooper, age 80, of Ellenboro, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, July 27, 2023 at his residence.

He was born Sunday, October 4, 1942 in Rutherford County. Junior worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation in bridge construction most of his adult life until retirement. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and as a deacon. Junior enjoyed taking care of his horses, Stella and Angel, and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Lee Cooper and Flossie Rose Cooper and by a granddaughter, Leslie Marie Fish.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of sixty-two years, Mary Philbeck; two daughters, Rose Cooper Fish (Wayne) of Ellenboro and Connie Cooper Bradley (Buddy) of Rutherfordton; grandchildren, Benjamin Bradley (Rebecca), Bryson Fish, Casey Bradley Edwards (Randy) and Blake Fish; great-grandchildren, Safari Bradley, Artie Bradley, Cooper Bradley, Khylee Fish, Isaac Fish, Abigail Edwards and Michaela Edwards.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, July 31st at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Ellenboro with Reverend Johnny McCarty officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
