Kerry Martin Hanvy, 71, passed away on Thursday, August 03, 2023 while at Hospice of Carolina Foothills.

Kerry was born to the late Frank E. and Margaret V. (McKennon) Hanvy. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Frank E. Hanvy, Jr. and Grady A. Hanvy; and sisters, Linda G. Blair, Sharon K. Cummons, and Betty L. Salisbury.

Kerry leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with his wife of 51 years, Helen B. Hanvy; a daughter Lorri H. (Michael S) Short, sons, Brian M. (Cindy S.) Hanvy, and Philip A. (Christina G.) Hanvy; daughter, Short; grandchildren, Kenny B. Hanvy, Joshua "Zion" Short, Summer N. Hanvy, Vincent M. Gregory, Samuel A. Hanvy, Johnathan A. Hanvy; brothers, Terry E. (Susie) Hanvy, and Nathan W. Hanvy.

Kerry was a beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a proud Vietnam War Veteran from 1970-1972 where he served as a helicopter mechanic with a rank of Corporal, and an avid Western fan, especially Gary Cooper. He enjoyed fishing, train watching, and wood working. But his greatest joy in life were his grandchildren. He will remain in our hearts forever.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 08, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 250 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Forest City, NC 28043. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
