L.D. Price

L.D. Price, a cherished soul known for his loving nature, friendly demeanor, and gentle spirit, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Born on September 5, 1931, in Cherokee County, South Carolina, L. D. was a man who lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.

L.D. was a devoted husband to his wife of 63 years, Gayle Hood Price. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and enduring memories. Their partnership was a testament to unwavering commitment and mutual respect. He was a loving father to his daughters, Robin Richard and her husband Steve, Lynne Bacon and her boyfriend Rob Bowling, and Susan Merrihew and her husband Ray. His legacy lives on through his twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, who will continue to honor his memory by embodying the values he instilled in them.

Born to the late Edgar and Katie Price, L.D. was one of ten siblings. He is survived by his four brothers, Ed, Fred, Alfred, and Walt Price. He was predeceased by his brothers Roscoe and Charlie Price and sisters Doshia Keller, Ann Sain, and Mary Willis. Lee's family was the cornerstone of his life, and the bonds he shared with them were unbreakable.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Norman's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Decker officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside at Norman's Grove Baptist from 12:00 noon - 1:45 pm on Wednesday, November 6th.

L.D. served his country with honor as a US Army veteran. After his military service, he built a successful career as a self-employed brick mason, a trade where he was known for his skillful craftsmanship and strong work ethic. His hands, which could meticulously lay bricks with precision, were equally adept at his favorite hobbies, surf fishing and woodworking as well as he was an avid gardener. L.D.'s passion for the sea and the joy he found in creating with his hands were sources of immense pleasure throughout his life.

L.D. was an active member of Norman's Grove Baptist Church was her served as a Deacon for many years. His selfless nature was evident in every aspect of his life, from his dedication to his family to the care he showed his friends and community.

L.D.'s life was a reflection of the simple joys and the profound connections that make a life well-lived. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued, with a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humor that could defuse any tension. His presence was a comfort and his guidance a source of wisdom.

As we say goodbye to L.D. Price, we celebrate a life marked by love, friendship, and kindness. He was a beacon of gentleness in a world that often forgets the importance of a soft touch and a warm embrace. His legacy will endure in the hearts of those he loved and in the community that was made better by his presence.

L.D. 's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the strength of family. We will miss his laughter, his stories, and the way he made each of us feel like the most important person in the world. Although he has left this earthly realm, his spirit remains with us, guiding us with the wisdom he shared and the love he gave so freely.
