LaDonna R. Hand

LaDonna R. Hand, 62 of Kings Mountain, NC, died February 2nd, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.

LaDonna was born July 11, 1961, in Coldwater, MI, to Linda (Gregory) (Hand) Duque and Larry Hand. She was a 1979 graduate of Union City High School. She attended Michigan State University before beginning her 18 year career in the United States Air Force retiring with the rank of Technical Sergeant. She faithfully served her country in the capacity of Chaplin Manager and served the duration of the Gulf War in Saudi Arabia. She obtained her degree in Business Administration from The Union Institute in Miami, FL, and worked many administrative and IT jobs throughout her career. Most recently she was employed by Walmart in King's Mountain, NC. LaDonna loved the mountains, NASCAR racing, antiques, travel, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. What she loved most was her home and flower gardens, and living in the small community of Kings Mountain. It reminded her of the small town of Union City, MI, where she was raised caringly by an entire community. She is survived by her mother, Linda Duque, Her niece, Marissa Hand both of Florida and by her step siblings Bandon Hand of Union City, MI, Patricia Linardi, Claire Ferraro and Bernie Duque of Florida and Vivian Duque Manley of Nashville, TN, and by her sister in heart, Mary Brecheisen, of Union City, MI. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Hand, her brother Lyle Hand, her step father Bernardo Duque, and her beloved cat, Dwight. Final arrangements have been made with Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, NC. A private gravesite military interment service will take place at a later date in Salisbury, NC. at the National Cemetery. In lieu of memorial contributions,, the family requests that you spend time with your family and loved ones, as time with them is precious and often not as long as we plan or hope for.
