Larry Charles Horton, Jr.

Larry Charles Horton, Jr., 57 entered into eternal rest on June 27, 2024 at Cleveland Pines.

Born on July 25, 1966 in Shelby, NC to the late Larry Charles Horton, Sr. and survived by his mother, Minister Lucresia Moore.
Larry aka "Boug" or "Bougie Down" was a graduate of Shelby High School. In his early years, Larry assisted his late grandfather James Woodrow Wilson in the family's painting and carpentry business where he developed his love for painting and artistry and was a former employee of Clyde A. Short Warehouse in Shelby, NC.
In 2007, after the loss of his father, Larry relocated to Philadelphia, PA and resided for over 15 years. His great personality allowed him to establish countless friendships, landed him many opportunities within his community and the neighborhoods of Philly. Larry found great pleasure in being a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, watching basketball, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Larry was known for cracking jokes on everyone, and his affectious sense of humor touched many and provided memorable moments of laughter throughout his life. Larry was a loving father, eldest son and cousin and will be remembered as uncle to many.
Larry will be greatly missed by his loving family and was preceded in death, by his maternal grandparents who raised him, Isabell and James W. Wilson, paternal grandfather Laymanuel Horton, father Larry Horton Sr and stepfather, Albert E Moore.
Larry leaves to cherish fond memories, his mother Minister Lucresia Moore of Shelby, NC, paternal grandmother Minnie Mae Horton of Shelby, NC, three brothers; Phillip Horton, Eric Smith, Kevin Smith of Gastonia, NC, two sisters: Traveka Parrish (Jeffrey) of Shelby, NC, Vickie Bovell (Marlon) of Upper Marlboro, MD, and one daughter Wyquall Carson-Gidney (Steven) of Shelby, NC and five grandchildren: Anjal, Azaivion, Sa'Riyah, McKynzy, and McKynna Carson of Shelby, NC, best friend, Oundray Petty, and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Hopper's Chapel Baptist Church. The reception of family and friends will begin at 12:30 p.m.
