Mr. Louis Calvin Haynes, 89, of Shelby, NC, passed away on April 23, 2026, at Atrium Health Cleveland. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Eddie Haynes and Cora Lumpkin Haynes on January 5, 1937.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Dennis Haynes; brothers, Ambros Haynes, J. D. Haynes, and R. B. Haynes; and sisters, Edda Lane and Jessye Haynes Colquet; and wife, Christine Hill Haynes.

He leaves fond memories to his children, Derrick Haynes, John Haynes (Christina), both of Shelby, NC and daughter, Hilda Tuft of GA; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; brothers, Gene C. Haynes and John A. Haynes, both of Maryland; and sister, Gail Haynes (Street) of Baltimore, MD; daughter in law, Penny Haynes of Gastonia; special relatives and friends, Jamet Flack (Leonard); Martha Stoud and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel in Shelby at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby.
