Lydia Emma Hicks Putnam

Lydia Emma Hicks Putnam, 89, passed away peacefully April 27, 2017 at White Oak Manor, Shelby, NC. She was born March 20, 1928 in Kings Mountain, NC to the late James Miles Hicks, Sr and Mattie Viola Morris Hicks. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, a retired child care provider, and she loved cooking and baking for her family and church family. She loved all the children she cared for throughout the years. She was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Sidney Hicks, J.M. Hicks Jr., Jacob Hicks, Albert Lee Hicks, Thomas Hicks, Paul Hicks, and sisters Helen Kiser, Mary Boheler, and Betty Jean Ledbetter. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Susan Wiggins Putnam, son-in-law Bobby G. Black, and great grandchild Dylan Putnam.

Lydia is survived by her husband of 71 years William Hoyle Putnam; brother, Franklin Hicks and wife Frances; children, Charles W. Putnam (Helen), Ann Putnam McDaniel (Larry), Peggy Putnam Black, David H. Putnam (Deborah), and Annette P. Burton (Carl); grandchildren Amy P Criswell (Michael), Brandon Putnam (Niki), Darrin Putnam (Melissa), Lee McDaniel (Janet), Cale McDaniel (Jada), Kimberly M. Houston (Mike), Sabrina Glenn (Lee), Brian Putnam, Jessica Burton, and Spencer Burton; great grandchildren Michael, Karsyn, Hanna, Ryan, Derek, Bryson, Stetson, Lucy, Haley, Austin, and Layla.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 3:00pm at Patterson Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Tim Hendricks and Rev. David Webb.

VISITATION: Saturday, 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, NC.
