Martha Jo Putnam Costner, 80, passed away Monday April 1, 2024 at White Oak Manor in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County on August 29, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Jasper Putnam and Dona Beattie Putnam. In addition to her parents Jo is preceded in death by her husband Billy Wayne Costner brother Paul Putnam.

Jo is survived by her two sons Tommy Costner of Shelby and Randy Costner and wife Yancey of Gastonia, four grandchildren, Allen Costner (Dakota), Josh Costner (Alexis), Allie Costner and Even Costner. Also left to cherish her memory are her great grandsons Fisher Costner and Waylon Costner, as well as her sister Perline Putnam Black.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Mary's Grove Community Church with Rev. Richard Stroup offering words of encouragement for those in attendance. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
