Martha Sue Byars, age 77, of Mooresboro, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.
Martha was born Monday, March 31, 1947, in Rutherford County to the late John Allen Byars and Allie Mae Campbell Byars. She worked for Cone Mills for several years. Martha was as charter member of Victory Baptist Church in Ellenboro. She faithfully led the choir for many years and was a dedicated Christian lady. She loved going on family trips to the beach and the mountains.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ann Causby (Rev. Lee Causby), Ruby Bridges, Gladys Liverette and a brother, David Byars.
Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Louise Wilson (Perry) of Forest City, Donald Byars (Debbie) of Mooresboro, Sandra Bailey of Ellenboro, Michael Byars (Debbie) of Shelby; brother-in-law, Howard Bridges of Forest City; sister-in-law, Barbara Byars of Cliffside and a host of loving nieces and nephews which includes her nephew, John Byars who was her caretaker for twenty-five years.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 18th at Victory Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny McCarty and Reverend Jerry Causby officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
