Marvin Coy Crawford, Jr.

Marvin Coy Crawford, Jr., 86 years old, of Dunes Drive, Kings Mountain, peacefully passed away with his loving wife by his side on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory.

Coy was born in Guilford County on February 5, 1938. He was the son of the late Marvin Coy Crawford, Sr. and Margaret Grady Crawford. Coy was grateful to be the owner and operator of Crawford Paint in Greensboro, a company which was founded by his father. Throughout his painting career, Coy enjoyed being active in the National Professional Construction Estimators Association, the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, and the Subcontractor Association in Greensboro. Coy was active in his community while living in Greensboro and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Oasis Shrine Temple. He was also a charter member of Forest Oaks Country Club.

After moving to Cleveland County, Coy began working for REMC in a job which he loved as a part-time Courier. This job continued until just a few months ago when he retired from it to enjoy life more fully with Pat. Coy loved the Lord and was an active member of First Baptist Church in Shelby, and he enjoyed his church family there.

Coy loved his family deeply, but had a special, deep love for his Grandsons. He also loved his many friends, and had a generous, giving spirit. Some of his favorite times at the lake were whenever family or friends could come to the house and he would have the opportunity to share good times on the lake and house with them. Coy enjoyed living at Moss Lake, tending his yard, and growing new plants with his green thumb. Throughout his life Coy enjoyed living a full life and he held dear to his heart treasured memories of flying planes, traveling to play golf, and going on beach trips with family and friends.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Darryl Crawford and sister, Jeaneane Paschal.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost sixty-six years, Patricia "Pat" Mintz Crawford; son, Bradrick Crawford and wife, Wendy of Lawndale; daughter-in-law, Beth Crawford of Kings Mountain; three grandsons, Christian Crawford of Ballantyne, Jacob Crawford and wife, Caroline of Raleigh and Samuel Crawford and fiancée, Izabell Moore of Asheville; and two nieces Pat and Jenny.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 2:00 pm in Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Asher Panton and Pastor Jason Elmore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if you would consider a memorial gift to either of these two causes which were close to Coy's heart:

The William Cable, Jr. Foundation. This memorial foundation supports, credentialed teen counseling, and an annual youth revival, retreat and camp scholarships for Discovery Youth. Giving can be made through the Discovery Church website at www.discoverychurchhickory or checks can be mailed to the following: William Cable, Jr. Foundation, Discovery Church, 2201 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658

Or

First Baptist Church of Shelby with the memo: "Carissa's Mission". Carissa Powell is a church member who Coy prayed for and loved. She will be doing mission work abroad, and is needing financial support. This donation may be sent to First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28150 and in the memo, you may note: In memory of Coy Crawford for "Carissa's Mission", or you may use the website https://secure.myvanco.com/L-ZHTG/campaign/C-149BA
