Mary Alice Grant Brittain, 78, passed away Saturday December 9, 2023 at Atrium Health in Shelby, NC.

Born in Cleveland County on August 31, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Robert Mitchell Grant and Bessie Lillian Emory Grant. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Bob Brittain, brothers Howard Grant, Ben Grant, Elmer Grant, sisters Helen Crowley and Alice Grant, as well as a granddaughter Sydni Stockton and son-in-law Robbie Weaver. Mary Alice was a loving, nurturing and devoted daughter, mother, grandmother who believed in family first values. She was affectionately known for her cooking and found great pleasure in all the family gatherings.

Mary Alice is survived by her sons Mike Brittain (Tammy) and Mark Brittain (Jeannie) and daughters Tracy Wright (Barry), Angie Stockton (Tommy) and Lisa Powell. Also left to cherish her memory, brother Jim Grant (Evelyn), sister Linda Gold (Joe), as well as, grandchildren; Shelly George (Steven), Josh Stockton, Faith Brittain, Sarah Brittain, Kelsey Richard (Nathaniel), Madison Manuel (Seth), Allison Rainey (Austin), Hunter Weaver, great grandchildren, Grantley George, Greeley George, Gatlin Lane, Grayson Lane, Harper Richard, Isla Richard, Rowyn Manuel and Nova Rainey.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Faith Baptist Church in Shelby, NC with Dr. J. Barry Goodman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary. A private burial will be held at Sunset Cemetery.
