Mary Ann Whitaker, age 84, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at Cleveland Pines of Shelby.

She was born on November 11, 1939 to the late D.J. "Doc" Glascoe and Dorothy Glascoe in Cleveland County, NC.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Luie Whitaker, sister Bobbie Baer, children Eddie Hammond (Christina) and Todd Hammond (Cindy), stepchildren, Gaylee Whitaker and Craig Whitaker (Sherry). Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren Thomas Hammond, Adam Hammond, Olivia Saylors, Kristin Hammond, Reggie Wood, and Mandy Boonie (Ben) along with ten great grandchildren.

Mary will be remembered by all as being a godly woman with a love for her family, spending time at the beach, and 48 years of loving her husband, Luie.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant City Church with Rev. Bryan Glisson and Rev. Gary Marburger officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. A burial will follow at Sandy Plains Baptist Church.
