Mary "Libby" McGinnis, age 75, of Mooresboro, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025 at Fairhaven Home in Forest City.
Libby was born Thursday, October 6, 1949 in Rutherford County to the late Willard Alley and Beatrice Smith Alley. She held an earned associate's degree from Isothermal Community College and worked as a bookkeeper for McGinnis Roofing for many years. Libby was known for her creativity and artistic ability. She was gifted in so many ways which included writing poetry, drawing, painting, various crafts and especially her excellent cooking skills. As the matriarch of the family, she loved sharing and teaching her favorite recipes to her daughter and granddaughters. She was also an antique collector and loved taking care of her dogs, cats and rabbits. Libby was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Linda Sherrill, Shirley Googe and Diane Alley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of fifty-one years, Ervin McGinnis; loving daughter, Dawn Wease of Forest City; brother, Ray Alley of Spindale; granddaughters, Elizabeth Snyder, Kristen Snyder and Jessi McGinnis; great grandchildren, David Edwards, Jesslyn McGinnis, Skylyn Edwards, Yates McGinnis and Emma Snyder.
A service at the graveside will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 25th at the Alexander Cemetery with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
