Mary "Sue" Weaver

Mary "Sue" Weaver, a loving wife and matriarch, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Sue was born in Cleveland County on May 14, 1932 the daughter of the late Robert Leo Beattie and Beatrice Ford Beattie. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Phil Weaver, granddaughter Wendy Jamison, great grandson Alex Jamison, and sister, June Biggerstaff.

Sue was a devoted Christian and longtime member of Buffalo Baptist Church of Shelby where she sang in the choir, was an assistant treasurer, WMU treasurer, Sunday school children's clerk, CARE Team member, Young At Heart member, and served on the hostess team. She also was a member of Triple L, and Crafting Ladies at Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Her working career was highlighted by time spent at Dover Yarn, Belk, and Community Pharmacy where she worked until her late 80's.

She will be remembered for her love for porcelain doll making, crocheting, sewing, reading, square dancing, family vacations, camping and bowling.

Sue is survived by her devoted husband of 73 years Charles Weaver, children, Ricky (Debbie) Weaver of Shelby, Terry (Joel) Milam of Rocky Pt, NC, Bill (Lisa) Weaver of Shelby, Kathy Weaver of Cherryville and sister Carolyn (Hugh) Bess of Shelby. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Danielle (Scott) Whitaker, Nichole (Andy) Hamrick, Sharon (Jason) Payne, Elizabeth (Trent) Newton, Ryan Weaver, Zachary (Jessica) Milam, Ben Milam, Angel (Phillip) Queen, Dusty Mode, Thomas (Chrissy) Weaver, Nicholas Weaver. She was also blessed with her great grandchildren, Phillip Jamison, Daniel Whitaker, Hailey Hamrick, Eliza Hamrick, Anais Hamrick, Spencer (Destiny) Payne, Skylar Payne, Charlie Newton, Riley Milam, Reagan Milam, Kai Queen, Jackson Queen, Xander Weaver, great-great granddaughter Ruby Payne and many loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her long term caregiver Cynthia Littlejohn, and other caregivers Mallory Baker and Theresa Benjamin.

A celebration of life service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Buffalo Baptist Church with Rev. Dustin Mace and Rev. Macky Turner officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial in fellowship building.
