Nancy-Ann Gregory Stumbo

Nancy-Ann Gregory Stumbo of Shelby, NC, previously of Knoxville and Marysville, TN died on Friday, July 21, 2023. She was 87. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald Arthur Stumbo, her children Donald A. (Linda) Stumbo Jr., William K. (Nan) Stumbo, Gregory M. (Lisa) Stumbo and James R. (Mary Ann) Stumbo, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren as well as her sister Janet Louise Akervik. She is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd K Gregory and Adelaide Louise Ford Gregory.

Nancy was born on October 30, 1935 in Ironwood, MI. She graduated from Luther L Wright High School in Ironwood. She then earned her bachelors in education from Michigan State. Nancy and Don were married on June 29, 1957 in Ironwood. They started their married life in California, where Nancy taught fifth grade for a year. She then left teaching to raise her family. Over the years they lived in Louisiana, Virginia, and Minnesota before settling in Knoxville. In Knoxville she became very active with the Concord United Methodist Church and their Women's group. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and shopping. Most of all she loved spending time with her friends, family and especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don and Nancy traveled extensively within the country visiting their widespread family and friends. She especially enjoyed all the fun times at Holden Beach, NC. She and Don took several river cruises in Europe.

She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am August 5th at Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Dr., Knoxville, TN 37934. The family will receive friends immediately afterwards. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at the Concord United Methodist Church.
