Nellie Bullock Moore

Nellie Bullock Moore, 91, of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, passed away on August 8th, 2024 at Summit Place in Kings Mountain.

Born November 2nd, 1932 in Cherokee County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Victoria Carroll Bullock and was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, J.V. Moore, sister Thelma Burton, and brothers Dean and David Bullock. Nellie worked for many years at KM Knit and Anvil Knitwear, from which she retired. She was a longtime member at Cornerstone Church of God in Kings Mountain, where she always helped with food ministry; famously, her food always got gone and she never had to take any home with her. She was known among her family as a terrific cook, her specialties being pintos, green beans, turnip greens, cornbread, and her famous "hot tom." Nellie could also often be found sewing or working in her gardens. She loved growing flowers and maintained a thriving vegetable garden for as long as she was able. Nellie was the rock of the family; she kept everyone together and took responsibility for organizing get-togethers, meals, holiday gatherings, and the like. She was faithful to God and was a devoted wife to J.V. during their years together. Nellie is remembered for being loving and generous, and she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
