Paul Daniel Sanders, 73, of Shelby, NC entered his eternal rest on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Lovingly known as Danny, he was born April 18, 1951, in Caldwell County, NC to Banner and Ruth Hicks Sanders. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Leona Shell Sanders, sister Kay Chapman, and brothers Terry Sanders and Jack Sanders Sr.

Danny was extremely passionate about life. He enjoyed cooking for others, telling stories about his childhood, and making people laugh. He was well known for his potato salad, deviled eggs, and grilling of the perfect steak. Danny also enjoyed classic cars, music from the 1970s, and wearing Hawaiian shirts. He remained happy-go-lucky his entire life and it was common to hear him say, "That's no big deal." Danny's memory will live on forever within us. Everyone that knew him not only has a good story to tell about him but also loves him.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted and loving wife of twenty-eight years Janet Humphries Sanders of the home, sons Gregory Sanders (Jimmy Bennett) of Valdese, NC, Jacob "Cody" Sanders of Shelby, NC, father-in-law Dean Humphries of Shelby, NC, stepdaughters Rebecca Harris of San Antonio, TX and Christina Harris of Corpus Christi, TX, one brother Larry Sanders of Hickory, NC, one sister Doris Warren of Lenoir, NC, lifelong friend Roger Gilbert of Lenoir, NC; in addition to, many nieces and nephews.

A very special thank you to the staff of the Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC for kind and compassionate care Danny received.
The family will receive friends will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Sandy Plains Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Elizabeth Cothran. Burial will follow the church cemetery.
