Mr. Pierre Montoya Martin transitioned from this earthly life on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Atrium-Mercy in Charlotte, NC.

He was born on March 4, 1965 in Shelby, NC, to the late James Cherry and Janie Ruth Martin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Marie Vernon Martin and paternal grandparents Otha and Gertrude Cherry.

Pierre leaves to cherish fond memories of him to his sisters, Mironda Enoch of Little Rock, Arkansas and Constance Pressley (Vernon) of Shelby, NC; and brother Juan Cherry (Annette) of Shelby, NC; nephew, Demetrius Martin of Lawrenceville, Georgia; niece, Kiera Pressley of Greensboro, NC; great nephews Kahlil and Kuran King-Martin of Atlanta, Georgia-whom he absolutely adored; a special aunt, Della Degree; and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, with burial in Sunset Cemetery.
