Regina DeVonde Lawing Lail, 72, of Shelby, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at her home.

Born in Mecklenburg County, on January 10, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Burmah Dixon Lawing and Betty Clairenteen Kennerly Lawing. She was retired from the Cleveland County Register of Deeds and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Regina and her husband Sam loved to Shag, Shag music, and started the Shelby Shagger. She enjoyed genealogy and living history events.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Samuel Dewey Lail, three sons, Jason Lail and wife Nicole of Biloxi, Mississippi, Sean Lail and wife Heidee of Boone, Jacob Lail and wife Ashley of Cherryville; brother, Billy Lawing of Stanley; seven grandchildren, Samantha Lail, Sydney Lail, Nathan Lail, Hannah Lail, Ethan Lail, Emma Lail, and Henry Lail; a great-grandson, Holden Chapman.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 26, at 2:00 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Toby LeRoy officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
