Rev. Michael J. Sepaugh

Rev. Michael J. Sepaugh, 79, died Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Jackson and Ida Mae Blanton Sepaugh. Michael graduated from Wake Forest and Southeastern Seminary. While at Southeastern, he started pastoring at Kittrell Baptist Church. He later served as Pastor at First Baptist Church of Sparta, Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia and 20 years at Shiloh Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. Michael most recently served as Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Ellenboro for the past 11 years. Ministry was his life, but he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and playing softball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Walter Sepaugh; and his sister, Patricia Daniel. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol Weaver Sepaugh of the home; son, Mitchell Sepaugh and wife Charlette of Gastonia; grandchildren, Matthew Sepaugh of Gastonia and Megan Stumbo and husband Stephen of Earl; great grandchild, Logan Stumbo; niece, Mellissa Hoover and husband Alan of Henrietta; and nephew, Patrick Daniel and wife Darlene of Sunbright, TN. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church, Ellenboro, with the Rev. Tim Trexler and Stephen Bright officiating. The family will receive friends two hour prior to the service, in the church. Burial will take place in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Earl. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Ellenboro.
