Rev. William Lee Bumgardner, 86, of Kings Mountain, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home.

Born in Cleveland County on July 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Austin Bumgardner and Nell Rice Crocker. He was retired from Boy Scouts of America and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cherryville. He served in the US Airforce during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Champion.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betti Dean Hoyle Bumgardner; two sons, David Bumgardner and wife, Diane of Forest City and Rob Bumgardner and wife, Alah of Raleigh; 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Kings Mountain.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Fletcher, Rev. James Hamrick and Dr. Steve Taylor officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the Mountain Rest Cemetery.
