Ricky Gene Edmondson

Ricky Gene Edmondson, 70, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at Wendover Hospice in Shelby.

A native of Cleveland County, He was born on, January 13, 1953, son of Gladys Allen Edmondson and the late Billy Gene Edmondson. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by three children, Melissa Edmondson, Kathy Tesseneer, and Shelia Hopper, two siblings, Shelia Ann Edmondson, and Bruce Edmondson.

Ricky is survived by his wife, Jean Brown Edmondson of the home, one daughter, Amy Edmondson of Shelby, and one special daughter, Amy Martinez and husband Jose of Shelby, two sons in laws, Max Tesseneer of Shelby and Paul Dawkins of Shelby, one sibling, Debbie Holcomb and husband Larry of Rutherfordton, and one sister in law, Francis Edmondson of Kings Mountain, four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

For many years, Ricky operated his own business as a Gunsmith and for 11 years he was the Manager of Shelby Hardware on Lafayette Street in Shelby. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He was loved by everyone who knew him, he will truly be missed by many.

The family will receive friends Wednesday December 6, 2023, from 1pm to 2pm at Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday December 6, 2023, officiated by Rev. Andy Oliver, Pastor Aaron Hinton, and Rev. Mike Frazier. Burial will immanently follow in the church cemetery.

To honor Ricky, pallbearers are as follows: John Paul Hope, David Mancipe, Scotty Morrow, Jose Martinez, Pastor Aaron Hinton, Max Tesseneer and a very special honorary pallbearer and great friend, Rev. Andy Oliver.
