Robert "Hoot" Huston Waters, 102, of Casar, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, Shelby.

Born in Rutherford County, on August 28, 1921, he was a son of the late Robert Cohen "Bob" Waters and Laura Etta Turner Waters. Hoot worked for Valdese Manufacturing for twenty-six years and would co-own and operate Waters Florist with his wife Bess. He was also a member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Bessie Evelyn "Bess" Murray Waters; a son, Robert Wayne Waters; three brother, Charles Waters, and Eliga "Bill" Waters and James Waters; four sisters, Monnie Brackett Stewart, Dess Melton Stewart, Deanie Maddox, and Vene Warlick.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Karen Waters of Myrtle Beach; his granddaughter Amy Shannon and husband Mike of Clemmons, two great-grandsons, Ryan George and wife April of Rocky Mount and Andrew Collins and wife Abbi of Yadkinville, and one great-great-granddaughter, Bella George of Rocky Mount; two brothers, Dewitt Waters of Hickory, and Jesse Waters of Hickory; two sisters, Clara Hefner of Conover, NC and Sue Johnson of Hickory; and a number of nephews and nieces.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eddie Padgett and Rev. Kim Clardy officiating. Mr. Waters will lie in repose thirty minutes before the service in the church.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
